DIVERGING PERSPECTIVES ON THE MOVIE LADY OF HEAVEN

Divergence in Opinion between Shia and Sunnah

At the start of 2021, I had multiple exchanges with both Sunnah and Shia brothers on why and why not to watch this movie - "The Lady of Heaven." I have synthesized more than 100 pages of tweet, Whatsapp and other exchanges in three podcasts and then discussed the decision framework with Dr. Hatem. However, very few people listened to these discussions at the time. Instead of going over the same discussion again, I have added links to the podcast on Youtube below. It will be a good refresher for those who have forgotten and will elevate others to a level where the discussion can start from where it was left off, rather than from zero.


Sunnah


S3E1: Perspective of Sunni Muslims on the Burning of the House of Syeda Fatima Zehra

Detailed discussion on the perspective of Sunni Muslims on the events surrounding the death of Syeda Fatima Zehra, and how the arguments go. This is based on a series of Twitter and Youtube discussions that I had with Sunni brothers. These discussions started with the events surrounding the death of Syeda Fatima Zehra and then went into all the different arguments that Ahl-e-Sunnah has on Shias. In summary, I felt like all of their counter-arguments were a part of an effort to hide what actually happened after the death of the Prophet. All of these discussions are saved as part of Twitter threads that can be read at @reflectin_light




Shia

There are key points fundamentally agreed upon by all Shias:
1- This event happened 2- The elevated personalities of broader Muslims should not be cursed using vile language 3- Unity of Ummah is very important 4- Sunnis are our brothers. All Sunnis are not Wahabids, all Wahabis are not extremists, and all extremists are not terrorists

In the first two parts, we discussed arguments in favour of and against watching the movie "the Lady of Heaven" from a Shia perspective. This podcast outlines a framework by which an individual can make a decision for themselves. Also discusses the institution of Marajiat for more clarity especially during the time of occultation of the Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance).
